A 19-year-old Trinidad student studying Psychology and International Relations at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami will represent Trinidad and Tobago in Germany as “Miss Trinidad and Tobago Miss World Cup 2006.”

She will compete against 31 other delegates representing other countries participating in this year’s World Cup football, where TT’s Soca Warriors is making its first international appearance.

TT is the smallest country in the World Cup.

This country’s delegate is Meagan Monsegue, a former student of St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph, where she gained eight CXC passes and four A’ Level passes. After graduating from FIU, she hopes to join the United Nations. Monsegue’s selection was announced at Cascadia Hotel yesterday, at a news conference held by the franchise holder, Carivog.

The pageant comes off in Germany on June 1.

Three other young women were also selected for overseas beauty pageants. Kershelle Hilaire will represent TT at The New Generation Contest in Ecuador in July; Tonia Ramsey goes to Guyana for Miss Mash Queen International Pageant, and Rachelle Lee-Chan will represent TT at the Miss Caribbean World Pageant in the British Virgin Islands, on June 3.
